Bloomfield Township Trustee Stephanie Fakih is calling for education to be a top priority in Michigan.

“We need to invest in Michigan public schools and Michigan teachers. An educated citizenry is an engaged citizenry and an engaged citizenry creates a prosperous state,” said Fakih, a Saginaw native who moved to Bloomfield Township as a child.

She added: “Education is the key to making our state prosper both economically and socially.”

Fakih is a lawyer who received her BA from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and her JD from Fordham University School of Law in New York City. She says she uses her professional experience to help educate young people by serving as a mentor to Michigan students interested in legal and government careers and by volunteering as a judge in high school and law school mock trial competitions.
