Michigan’s economy continues to grow.

Michigan added 9,000 jobs in February, bringing the state’s unemployment rate down to 4.7 percent and marking the tenth straight month of job increases, according to the latest report.

Additionally, the report said that Michigan created a total of 172,000 jobs between February 2021 and February 2022. The positive economic news comes on the heels of recent analysis showing that Michigan’s drop in unemployment was the third-fastest of any state over the course of 2021.

“Michigan is on the move. Through tough times, Michiganders continue to work hard and build on our economic momentum,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “Michigan’s future is bright, and I will continue working with anyone to get things done on the kitchen-table issues that matter most to families.”
