Reports are showing that Michigan’s overall unemployment rate fell to 4.4 percent in March – a number last seen in 2018. Newly released analysis provides further insight into Michigan’s March jobs report, showing that unemployment decreased in every single one of Michigan’s 83 counties over the course of the month.
The industries that saw the largest employment gains in March included manufacturing (9,000 jobs) and leisure and hospitality (5,000 jobs).
“Michigan’s regional labor markets recorded positive trends over the month,” said Wayne Rourke, associate director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives. “March was characterized by seasonal jobless rate reductions across all regions and payroll job gains in most metro areas.”
