New GOP Plan Raises Taxes on “Over Half of Americans” Rick Scott, a key member of the Republican leadership team, is proposing tax hikes on seniors, working families so they have “skin in the game”

Florida Senator Rick Scott opens his new 11-point plan for the GOP with a warning: “This plan,” he writes in a letter introducing his new Rescue America agenda, “is not for the faint of heart” and may “strike fear in the heart of some Republicans.”
Rescue America addresses topics ranging from Education to Immigration to “Growth/Economy.”
One noteworthy economic proposal: a new initiative that could raise taxes on half of all Americans.
“All Americans should pay some income tax to have skin in the game, even if a small amount,” the plan says.
“At best, it is wholly irresponsible and negligent, one Republican strategist said of Rescue America. “At worst, it is somebody trying to put their own political ambitions ahead of the party as a whole.”
The Republican Party’s new tax plan could affect more than 100 million Americans, including many retirees.
